SEATTLE, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Seattle Supersonics forward Rashard Lewis will miss two months after undergoing surgery on his right hand Friday.
The 6-foot-10 inch Lewis injured the tendon sheath on the back of his hand in the opening minute of the first quarter of Wednesday's 103-95 loss to Dallas.
"It's just unfortunate," guard Ray Allen told the Seattle Post-Intelligence. "I feel bad for this team. I feel bad for the people who come watch us play and especially for him. Sitting on the sidelines is no fun. He definitely did his part to try to help lead this team. I feel bad for him."
Allen also has been sidelined by a bone bruise in right ankle.
In 27 games, Lewis, who is in his ninth NBA season, had per game averages of 21.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
His scoring average is a career high and Lewis had been considered a certain NBA West All-Star.
