Simon Gagne scored Philadelphia's only goal. Not only are the Flyers winless in the month of December (0-6-1), but this was the franchise-worst seventh consecutive defeat.

The Flyers lost six straight earlier this season, but have now lost more consecutive games than any other team in club history.

Goaltender Antero Niittymaki made 40 saves in the loss.

The Flyers got center Jeff Carter back in the lineup after he missed 20 games with a broken left tibia. However, they lost top center Peter Forsberg.
