NHL: Toronto 4, Carolina 3

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Mats Sundin had two goals and one assist Friday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat Carolina, 4-3.

With the score tied, 3-3, Alexander Steen scored the game-winning goal with about six minutes remaining in the third period.

Tomas Kaberle had two assists, and Andrew Raycroft made 29 saves on 32 shots for the Maple Leafs, who have won two in a row after a seven-game losing streak.

Bryan McCabe had a goal and two assists, while Erik Cole and Justin Williams each scored a goal for Carolina. Cam Ward was beaten four times on 25 shots for the Hurricanes, whose losing streak grew to five games.

On the power play, Toronto was 2-for-7, and Carolina went 1-for-7.

Toronto Coach Paul Maurice made his return to Raleigh after being fired last season as Carolina's coach.
