NHL: Pittsburgh 8, Philadelphia 4

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby had a goal and five assists Wednesday night as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Philadelphia, 8-4.

The Penguins have beaten the Flyers in all five of their meetings this season by a combined score of 28-11.

Sergei Gonchar finished with two goals and three assists, and Ryan Malone had a goal and three assists for the Penguins, who won their third straight game. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up two goals on 10 shots in the first period before being replaced by Jocelyn Thibault at the start of the second due to equipment problems.

Thibault made one save before Fleury returned to the ice during the second period. Fleury finished with 18 saves.

Kyle Calder scored his first goal of the season for the Flyers, who lost their fifth straight game and their sixth out of seven.

Antero Niittymaki gave up seven goals on 26 shots -- and was replaced by rookie Martin Houle for part of the second period. Houle gave up one goal on three shots in his NHL debut.

The Penguins were 3-for-8 on the power play. The Flyers failed to score on four power-play chances.
