Bob Toledo new football coach at Tulane

RUSTON, La., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Tulane University Monday introduced 60-year-old Bob Toledo as the Green Wave's new head football coach.

Toledo replaced Chris Scelfo, who had a 37-57 record in eight seasons at Tulane, including 4-8 finish this past season.

"He knows how to coach great football in a great academic setting and he has the fire and drive to develop a successful program here," said Tulane Athletics Director Rick Dickson. "Bob's enthusiasm for Tulane was apparent from our first conversation through the entire interview process."

Toledo came out of retirement this past season to be the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the University of New Mexico Lobos.

Toledo was head coach at UCLA from 1996-2002, where he went 49-32, winning two Pac-10 championships and leading the Bruins on a school-record 20-game winning streak. He was fired at UCLA after a 7-5 finish in 2002.
