NHL: San Jose 3, Nashville 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Jonathan Cheechoo scored the eventual game-winning goal Saturday night as San Jose beat Nashville, 3-1.

Cheechoo's second goal of the game came at 16:37 of the second period and gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead, one which they never relinquished.

Curtis Brown scored the game's first goal at 4:44 of the first period. Joe Thornton had three assists, and goaltender Evgeni Nabokov gave up one goal on 21 shots for the Sharks, who had lost their previous two games.

Josef Vasicek scored the only goal at 14:09 of the second period on assists by Martin Erat and Scott Hartnell, while goalie Chris Mason made 23 saves on 26 shots for the Predators, who have lost three of their last four games.

On the power play, Nashville went 0-for-5, and San Jose was 1-for-6.
