ST. JAMES, Barbados, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The duo of Bernhard Langer and Marcel Siem Sunday combined to give Germany the World Golf Championship title in a one-hole playoff with Scotland.

The pair needed only a par to beat the team of Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren.

"Every trophy is special," said Langer.

On the closing day of the event at St. James, Barbados, Langer and Siem teamed for a 5-under 66, while Scotland's duo shot 2-under 69.

The two countries ended regulation with scores of 16-under 268.

Sunday's play consisted of foursomes, or the alternate-shot format.

The two teams returned to the par-three closing hole to begin the extra session, with the senior members of each team shooting first.

Sweden bogeyed the final hole, which cost the team of Henrik Stenson and Carl Pettersson a shot to join the playoff.

After a closing 1-over 72, Sweden finished third at 15-under 269.
