Dec. 10, 2006 at 2:52 AM

LUBBOCK, Texas, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Bob Knight got his 877th win as a coach Saturday afternoon as his Texas Tech Red Raiders trounced Centenary, 98-64.

Jarrius Jackson scored a team-high 25 points; and Charlie Burgess, who went 9-for-9 from the field, scored 20 points for the Red Raiders (8-3).

For the game, they shot 62.5 percent from the field, and made 11 of 18 three-point attempts.

Tyrone Hamilton scored 25 points to lead the Gentleman, who fell to 4-5. They trailed, 51-30, at the half.

With the victory, Knight surpassed Adolph Rupp for second on the Division I all-time wins list and he is two wins shy of overtaking Dean Smith for most wins ever.

Smith retired at North Carolina in 1997 with an all-time record 879 wins.

Knight can break that barrier with three more victories.

Texas Tech does not play again until Dec. 16 at Arkansas.
