COL BKB: Boston College 73, Maryland 62

BOSTON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Jared Dudley had 20 points and 11 rebounds Sunday as Boston College knocked off No. 22 Maryland, 73-62.

In the ACC opener for both schools in Boston, the Eagles (6-2, 1-0 ACC) took a 38-29 halftime lead, and held off Maryland after a big second-half surge.

Tyrese Rice had 17 points and four assists for the Eagles. Sean Marshall had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists; and Sean Williams had 10 points and 11 rebounds as BC won its fifth game in a row.

James Gist had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Terps (9-2, 0-1), who have lost two of their last three games after starting the season with eight straight wins.

Mike Jones and Bambale Osby scored 10 points apiece, while Ekene Ibekwe -- still plagued by a recent ankle sprain -- scored only six points.

The closest Maryland came was 58-55 on Jones' three-pointer with 6 1/2 minutes remaining.
