NHL: Dallas 1, San Jose 0

DALLAS, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The Dallas Stars shut out the San Jose Sharks, 1-0, Monday, posting their second straight win.

Marty Turco made 25 saves to record his second shutout of the season and the 26th of his career.

But the Stars also suffered the loss during of Mike Modano, the team's leading scorer this season with 20 points (10G, 10A), who netted the only goal in the first period. He left in the second period with an undisclosed lower body injury and did not return.

Dallas was already playing without its captain, Brenden Morrow, who missed his fifth straight game due to a groin injury. Five other regulars also missed the game.

San Jose had its season-high five-game winning streak snapped while looking to complete a perfect four-game road trip. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 12-of-13 shots in a losing effort.
