Florida to play Ohio State for BCS title

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- The Florida Gators will play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the BCS Championship in Glendale, Ariz., the BCS announced Sunday.

Florida's win over Arkansas in the SEC title game, coupled with UCLA's upset of Southern California Saturday, vaulted the Gators (12-1, 8-1 SEC) into the Jan. 8 title game against Ohio State (12-0, 8-0 Big Ten).

Michigan (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten) had hopes the Trojans loss would give the Wolverines a rematch against Ohio State -- and a shot at revenge for their only loss of 2006. Instead, the Wolverines will meet the Trojans in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.

The BCS has been controversial for its use of computer statistics, but it was the human part of the system that chose Florida over Michigan. The computers rated both teams at .940, but Florida outdid Michigan in the Harris and USA Today coaches polls.

Notre Dame (10-2) will play LSU (10-2, 6-2 SEC West) in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 3.

The Orange Bowl, Jan. 2 in Miami, will feature Wake Forest (11-2, 7-2 ACC) vs. Louisville (11-1, 6-1 Big East).

Boise State (12-0, 8-0 WAC) and Oklahoma (10-2, 7-1 Big 12) will meet in the Fiesta Bowl, Jan.1, in Glendale, Ariz.
