COL FB: California 26, Stanford 17

BERKELEY, Calif., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Nate Longshore passed for 217 yards and a touchdown and Tom Schneider hit four field goals Saturday as No. 20 California defeated Stanford, 26-17.

DeSean Jackson had seven catches for 127 yards, and Lavelle Hawkins caught three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown for Cal (9-3). Justin Forsett gained 75 yards on 11 carries, and Marshawn Lynch rushed 15 times for 67 yards.

T.C. Ostrander completed 15-of-31 passes for 204 yards and two scores for the Stanford Cardinal (1-11). Richard Sherman had six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Evan Moore caught three for 63 yards and a TD for Stanford.

California's Syd'Quan Thompson returned an Ostrander fumble 16 yards for a touchdown that put the Golden Bears up 13-3. Stanford answered with a 68-yard kickoff return by Marcus McCutcheon that set up an eight-yard touchdown catch by Sherman, bringing the Cardinal to within 13-10 at the half.
