WHANGAPARAOA, New Zealand, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Wade Ormsby and Nick Dougherty share the lead after 36 holes of the New Zealand Open golf tournament at Whangaparaoa in suburban Auckland.
Ormsby, a native of Australia, shot a course-record 8-under-par 63 on Friday to move to 7-under 135.
Dougherty, from England, shot 5-under 66.
"I was just plodding along and making putts all day, so it was nice,"" said the 26-year-old Ormsby. "I didn't drive it that great today, but the fairways are pretty generous. I still gave myself enough opportunities to go at some pins. I made a lot of putts, that was the best part of the day."
"I played really, really well for my front nine," said Dougherty. "Overall, I am pleased and no bogeys is always a good round."
New Zealand native and 2005 U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell (65) is third at 6-under 136.
First-round leader Scott Strange (70) of Australia is 5-under 137.
