Arizona State vs. Hawaii Christmas Eve

TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Arizona State said Tuesday it will play the University of Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve in Honolulu.

The Sun Devils, who announced the firing of Coach Dirk Koetteron Sunday. will participate in their 23rd bowl game and the fourth in the last five seasons. Arizona State is 12-9-1 all-time in bowl games.

The Sun Devils will attempt to win their third consecutive bowl after victories over Purdue in the 2004 Sun Bowl and Rutgers in the 2005 Insight Bowl.

It will be the final game for Koetter, who has a 40-33 record during six seasons with the Sun Devils.
