USC is No. 2 in the new BCS poll

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Southern California was No. 2 when college football's latest BCS rankings were released Sunday night.

The Trojans (10-1), who trounced Notre Dame, 44-24, Saturday night, put themselves in position to face top-ranked Ohio State in the BCS national championship game Jan. 8 at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz.

The Buckeyes (12-0) have the nation's longest winning streak at 19 straight wins.

Michigan (11-1) is No. 3, followed by Florida (11-1) and LSU (10-2). Louisville (10-1), Wisconsin (11-1), Boise State (12-0), Arkansas (10-2) and Notre Dame (10-2) round out the top 10.

Before the bowl season starts, Florida faces Arkansas in the SEC championship game next Saturday; Louisville may be able to claim the Big East title if West Virginia beats Rutgers Saturday; and USC ends its regular season with a game against archrival UCLA.

The final BCS standings will be released Dec. 3.
