COL FB: Va. Tech 17, Virginia 0

BLACKSBURG, Va., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- George Bell ran for a score and Eddie Royal caught a touchdown pass Saturday afternoon as 17th-ranked Virginia Tech beat Virginia, 17-0.

The Hokies converted on 9 of 18 third down plays and held the Cavaliers to 44 total yards in the second half to give Coach Frank Beamer his 10th 10-win season in 20 years at the ACC school.

Sean Glennon was 12-for-18 passing for a touchdown and 148 yards; and Kenny Lewis gained 79 yards on 19 carries for the Hokies (10-2, 6-2 ACC Coastal).

Jemeel Sewell went 10-for-21 for 69 yards and lost a critical fumble late in the second quarter, after which Bell scored on a 1-yard run just before half-time to give Virginia Tech a 10-0 lead; and the Cavaliers (5-7, 4-4) gained only 44 net yards rushing.

The win gave the Hokies five wins in a row.
