UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Alexei Yashin, Miroslav Satan and Sean Hill scored goals and Rick DiPietro made 36 saves Friday afternoon as the New York Islanders beat Pittsburgh, 3-1.
The Islanders -- who won their second straight game and their third out of four -- opened the scoring at 2:12 of the second period, when Satan picked up a loose puck behind the net and fed it to Yashin, who put it past Jocelyn Thibault.
Evgeni Malkin tied the game with a goal in the second, but had to leave the game in the third period after a collision with Brendan Witt. Thibault stopped 26-of-29 shots for Pittsburgh, which lost its second straight game.
Satan scored the Isles' second goal about 5 ½ minutes into the third period, and Hill wrapped up the scoring at 11:32 of the third.
Pittsburgh -- which out-shot the Islanders, 37-29 -- went 0-for-9 on the power play, while New York failed to score on three power-play chances.
