KOCHI, Japan, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Michelle Wie Friday missed the cut at the Casio World Open in Kochi, Japan.
In a round she termed "pretty tragic," the 17-year-old Wie shot 8-over 80, one day after shooting 9-over 81 in Thursday's first round.
Her two-round score of 17-over 161 left second-to-last -- 27 shots behind halfway leader Tetsuya Haraguchi of Japan.
It's the 11th time in 12 tries Wie missed the cut in a men's tournament.
"Golf goes in waves," Wie said on her Web site. "I've played some pretty bad rounds lately, but it won't deter me from playing in men's tournaments. I didn't play like myself today, but it doesn't bother me because I know I can play better. I learn a lot from playing with the men. I know what I have to work on."
Wie said she will next play in January in the PGA's Sony Open in Honolulu.
