COLLEGE PARK, Md., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Ekene Ibekwe scored a team-high 16 points Friday afternoon as No. 24 Maryland overcame High Point College, 81-63.
The unbeaten Terps (7-0), who won the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic at College Park, Md., recovered from a sluggish first half, after which they ended up with only a 37-33 half-time advantage.
They trailed twice in the contest.
Ibekwe, who suffered a sprained right ankle late in the game, added six rebounds and three steals.
James Gist had 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots; D.J. Strawberry had 15 points, five assists, and five rebounds; while Greivis Vazquez added 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Arizona Reid had 19 points and five rebounds, but six turnovers; and Mike Jefferson had 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three turnovers for the Panthers (3-3), whose record against ACC opponents sank to 2-22 all-time.
