Joe Frazier begins British tour

LONDON, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Former boxer Joe Frazier has embarked on a British tour set to include appearances in Manchester, London, Birmingham and Peterborough.

Frazier, 62, who famously defeated Muhammad Ali in a 1971 bout in New York, aims to rejuvenate his celebrity status with the string of personal appearances, The Mirror reported Monday.

A series of four operations on his neck and back following a 2003 car accident, along with wear and tear from his long boxing career, have left Frazier with poor balance, limited mobility and slurred speech, the Mirror said. However, the former champion remains optimistic about his condition.

"The hands are good, the body is good, the mind is good. I can dance, I can walk, talk and fight," he told the newspaper.
