Chicago boxer dies in first title fight

PITTSBURGH, W.Va., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Steve Slaton was the first West Virginia player with 100-plus yards rushing and 100-plus yards receiving in the same game as the Mountaineers beat Pitt, 45-27.
Slaton finished with 215 rushing yards, 130 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Mountaineers (9-1, 4-1).
Pat White ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns and completed 11-of-16 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns for West Virginia, which gained 641 total yards total offense, including 437 on the ground.
Tyler Palko was 28-for-37 for 341 yards and two touchdowns for Pittsburgh (6-5, 2-4), which has lost four straight games. Oderick Turner caught six passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.
