Bonds trainer ordered back to prison

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- A U.S. appeals court in San Francisco has upheld a judge's ruling sending Barry Bonds' trainer back to prison in the steroids scandal.

Greg Anderson was ordered to prison for refusing to testify about Bonds before a federal grand jury, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The panel is investigating whether Bonds lied when he testified that he had never knowingly used steroids.

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Anderson's claim that the grand jury proceedings had been tainted by an allegedly illegal tape recording.

Anderson, 40, is one of five men who pleaded guilty to charges of distributing illegal performance-enhancing drugs, reputedly supplied by BALCO, the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative.
