Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Butch Davis, former coach of the Miami Hurricanes and Cleveland Browns, reportedly has agreed to take charge of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
The Raleigh News & Observer, citing sources close at the university and in the Atlantic Coast Conference, said Monday that an announcement is expected soon.
The university fired John Bunting on Oct. 22 and he is to leave at the end of the season.
The Tar Heels are 1-9 this year with two games remaining with North Carolina State on Saturday and Duke Nov. 25.
Marvin Demoff, Davis's agent, suggested to the Charlotte Observer last Wednesday that some action might be expected this week.
