SEATTLE, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Jon Brockman scored 25 points helping the No. 17 Washington Huskies to a season-opening 99-91 men's basketball win over the Pepperdine Waves.

Washington scored the first eight points of the game and led 16-2 in the early going Sunday in the BTI Travelers Classic. The Huskies kept Pepperdine at length after that.

Brockman backed his 25-point game with 12 rebounds and Quincy Pondexter added 21 points for the Huskies.

Pepperdine, 0-1, got 18 points from Jason Walberg and 16 from Marvin Lea.
