NHL: New Jersey 4, Florida 2

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Patrik Elias and Sergei Brylin each had a goal and an assist Saturday night as New Jersey beat the Florida Panthers, 4-2.

The Devils scored two goals in each of the first two periods to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission.

Sergei Brylin and Jamie Langenbrunner each scored once, and Martin Brodeur gave up two goals on 20 shots as New Jersey won its fourth straight game.

The Devils grabbed a 1-0 lead just over 5 1/2 minutes into the game on a power play goal by Elias.

Stephen Weiss and Chris Gratton scored goals, and Ed Belfour gave up four goals on 24 shots for the Panthers, who have lost three in a row and six of their last seven games.

On the power play, New Jersey was 3-for-7, and Florida was 1-for-3.
