EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Brian Gionta scored the decisive shootout goal Thursday night to give New Jersey a 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Michael Rupp scored once in regulation, and goalie Martin Brodeur made 23 saves on 24 shots for the Devils, who beat Carolina in a shootout Tuesday and have won five of their last six games.

Rupp's goal in the first period gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead, but Chicago's Tuomo Ruutu tied the score at 8:55 of the period after assists by Radim Vrbata and Duncan Keith.

Brian Boucher gave up one goal on 27 shots for the Blackhawks, who are 0-7-1 in their last eight games.

On the power play, Chicago went 0-for-4, and New Jersey went 0-for-8.

Chicago again played without starting goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, who is listed as day-to-day with a broken finger.
