Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- It could be Chicago versus Los Angeles for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games now that San Francisco apparently is out of the race.
The San Francisco 49ers may have knocked their city from the running by dropping plans for a new stadium next to the current one and considering a move to Santa Clara, Calif.
San Francisco's loss could be Chicago's gain, the Chicago Sun-Times said. If San Francisco is forced out, that would leave Chicago and Los Angeles as the only two cities vying for 2016.
Chicago 2016 Chairman Pat Ryan said he has no idea what San Francisco's stadium troubles mean to Chicago. He's concerned now with readying Chicago's own Olympic bid, due Jan. 20.
