Lions DE Hall out for the season

ALLEN PARK, Mich., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Veteran Detroit Lions defensive end James Hall has been placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury ending his season.

Hall, a 7-year pro, had 24 tackles and five sacks over seven games this season. He did not play in last week's game.

In 89 games in his career in Detroit, Hall has 33 sacks and an interception, including an 11 1/2-sack season in 2004.

The Lions also placed running back Brian Calhoun on injured reserve because of a knee injury. He had seven rushes for 19 yards while appearing in seven games this season

To fill the two roster spots, Detroit signed defensive end Corey Smith and running back Aveion Cason.
