DETROIT, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Detroit Red Wings forward Jason Williams, knocked out in a fall during a game Wednesday, will sit out Friday night's Nashville game, the team announced.

Team spokesman John Hahn said Williams was released from the hospital Thursday morning and was at home resting, the Detroit Free Press said. The forward did not practice with the team Thursday.

Hahn said Williams received 30 stitches for a cut on his head.

Red Wings Coach Mike Babcock said he hoped to get Williams back for a game against Vancouver next Tuesday.
