Former soccer player Gascoigne arrested

LONDON, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Former English soccer player Paul Gascoigne has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted a photographer.

Gascoigne was released Wednesday from the Chelsea Police Station in London after he was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, The Telegraph reported.

The former midfielder allegedly assaulted a photographer outside the popular Boujis nightclub in South Kensington.

"Police were called at approximately 3.40 a.m. by a 43-year-old man who alleged that he had been assaulted by another man at a club in South Kensington," Scotland Yard said Wednesday morning.

"Following inquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested at a separate club nearby at 4.15 a.m. on suspicion of actual bodily harm and is currently in custody at a south west London police station."

The Telegraph said the unidentified victim is not believed to have required hospitalization.
