NHL: Toronto 4, Buffalo 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Darcy Tucker scored the eventual game-winning goal Saturday night as Toronto beat the Buffalo Sabres, 4-1.

Tucker's goal came at 9:20 of the second period, when the Maple Leafs scored three times to snap a 1-1 tie.


Mats Sundin had two goals and one assist, Jeff O'Neill scored once, Alexei Ponikarovsky had two assists, and Andrew Raycroft allowed one goal on 30 shots for Toronto, which handed the Sabres their first loss in regulation this season.

Jochen Hecht scored Buffalo's only goal at 7:07 of the first period, with assists by Daniel Briere and Toni Lydman, and Ryan Miller gave up four goals on 33 shots for the Sabres.

On the power play, Toronto went 1-for-7, and Buffalo did not score on any of its six chances.
