KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- JaMarcus Russell's four-yard touchdown pass to Early Doucet with nine seconds remaining Saturday gave No. 13 LSU a 28-24 win over eighth-ranked Tennessee.
The Tigers (7-2, 3-2 SEC) moved 42 yards in the closing minute to give LSU its biggest win of the season.
Russell finished the day 24-of-36 for 247 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions for the Tigers, who won their third straight. He also ran for a career-high 71 yards.
Doucet caught eight passes for 73 yards while Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis also caught touchdown passes.
Tennessee (7-2, 3-2) quarterback Erik Ainge was suffering from an ankle sprain and was ineffective before leaving after being sacked late in the first quarter. Freshman Jonathan Crompton completed 11-of-24 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns for the Volunteers (7-2, 3-2), who lost for the first time in their last six games.
