"That was a crazy pace. I knew they couldn't keep up that pace," winning jockey Frankie Dettori said. "I decided to let them fight it out and then come at them."

Earlier leader Icy Atlantic covered the first quarter in 24.13, and the half in 47.87, before fading to finish dead last.

Red Rocks sat in ninth for the first mile, three or four wide and then headed wider in the backstretch before reaching the front and finishing hard.

Red Rocks takes home $1.62 million of the $3 million purse.

Red Rocks paid $23.60, $11.20 and $6.20; Better Talk Now, $17.40 and $10; and English Channel, $4.20. The $2 Exacta paid $450.
