Santana Moss to miss another game

ASHBURN, Va., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins will not have star wide receiver Santana Moss Sunday against Dallas because he has not fully recovered from a left hamstring injury.

Moss, who was downgraded from questionable to doubtful Friday, was hurt Oct. 22 at Indianapolis.

"You're going to miss Santana," Coach Joe Gibbs said on Washington's Web site. "We all know that. We have to have other guys step up. It's why we have the guys we do at that position. Hopefully, that will happen."

Moss likely will be replaced as a starter by Brandon Lloyd, who will team with Antwaan Randle-El.

Moss, in his sixth season out of Miami (Fla.), has more yards receiving (435) than the other four wide-outs on the roster combined (397) this season.

"I feel pretty good, but at the same time, you see how I'm dressed," said Moss, who wore sweat clothes to Friday's practice.

Washington carries a three-game losing streak into Sunday's game.

Liriano to have elbow surgery

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano will undergo surgery on his injured left elbow next week.

The 23-year-old Minnesota Twins left-hander was shut down after a Sept. 13 start against Oakland, complaining of pain in the elbow. That was after he left an Aug. 7 start against Detroit with the same pain, and was sidelined for more than a month.

Monday's surgery will cause Liriano to miss the entire 2007 season.

"What were hoping is that Dr. (Lewis) Yocum will determine what the problem is and give us a solution," Greg Genske, one of Liriano's agents told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "Francisco is eager to determine what is wrong with him and get back to pitching as soon as possible."

Liriano tried to use rest and rehabilitation to avoid surgery, but left a rehab program in mid-September was not resolving the problem.

Last season, the former reliever was 12-3 with a 2.16 ERA in 121 innings.

He became the 41st player to hit at least 400 home runs.

He was left off St. Louis' playoff roster.

Scott, Durant tied in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- After a 3-under-par 67 Friday, Adam Scott joined Joe Durant at the top of the leader-board after two rounds of the season-ending PGA Tour Championship.

During the second round, Scott made birdies at holes, 3, 6, 8 and 9 and only a bogey at No. 10 kept him from shooting 66.

He shot 31 on the front nine.

"I'm very happy with the way, I'm driving (the golf ball)," Scott said. "It's a difficult course."

Durant (68), a first-round co-leader with Retief Goosen, saved par at No. 18 to grab a piece of the lead for another day.

Goosen (71), Trevor Immelman (66), Stuart Appleby (70), and Brett Quigley (71) are tied for third at 4-under 139 at Atlanta's East Lake Country Club golf course.

Jim Furyk (71), Luke Donald (67), and Zach Johnson (69) are tied for seventh place at even-par 140.

Defending champion Bart Bryant did not qualify this year.

PARIS, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Spain's Tommy Robredo and Nikolay Davydenko of Russia Friday advanced to the semifinals at the Paribas Masters tennis tournament in Paris.

In Friday's quarterfinals, Robredo, who is the sixth seed, beat No. 14 Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. The fourth-seeded Davydenko was a 6-3, 6-3, winner over No. 9 Mario Ancic of Croatia.
