Jankovic, Bartoli advance at Quebec City

QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Marion Bartoli of France were winners Wednesday at the Bell Challenge tennis tournament in Quebec City, Quebec.

Jankovic, the No. 1 seed, beat unseeded Milagros Sequera of Venezuela, 6-1, 6-3. Bartoli, the second seed, topped unseeded American Laura Granville 6-4, 6-3.

Sixth-seeded American Shenay Perry beat compatriot Abigail Spears, 6-1, 7-5. Fourth-seeded Severine Bremond of France downed unseeded American Jill Craybas 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Martina Sucha of Slovakia, the 2004 Quebec runner-up, beat fifth-seeded Sybille Bammer of Austria, 7-5, 6-4. And unseeded Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada beat fellow non-seed American Ashley Harkleroad, 6-1, 6-4.

The tournament's eventual winner will claim a first prize check of $28,000.
