CARSON, Calif., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Bob Bradley and Jonathan Bornstein, who are with California's Chivas USA team, have been selected Major League Soccer's 2006 coach and rookie of the year.
Bradley guided Chivas USA to a 10-9-13 record and third place in the MLS's Western Conference in his first season as the team's coach. Last year, Chivas won just four games.
It is the second time Bradley won coach-of-the-year honors, winning after the 1998 season when he was leading the Chicago Fire to the MLS championship. No other coach has won the award more than once.
D.C. United Coach Peter Nowak and Chicago Fire Coach Dave Sarachan were finalists for the award.
Bornstein, 21, was the 37th pick in the 2006 draft and started every game this season for Chivas USA. His total of 2,878 minutes played was third highest in the league. He had six goals and four assists this season.
The MLS awards are voted on by media, MLS players, MLS coaches and general managers of each club.
