KIRKLAND, Wash., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Seahawks running back and reigning NFL MVP Shaun Alexander is expected to be sidelined at least one more week due to a broken left foot.

"He had pictures taken today and the doctors, the medical people, are reluctant to give me the green light on Shaun after what they saw in the pictures," Seattle Coach Mike Holmgren said. "He is getting better, he's feeling better, and his crack has healed a bunch."

Alexander suffered the injury during a 42-30 win over the New York Giants on Sept. 24. He has rushed 65 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns this season, and he's caught five passes for 22 yards.

"The strength of our football team right now is our receivers and I want to strive for balance," Holmgren added. "To do that, we have to become more effective in our rushing."
