Perry wins match at Bell Challenge

QUEBEC, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Sixth-seeded American Shenay Perry beat Melinda Czink of Hungary, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, Monday in first-round action at the Bell Challenge tennis tournament.

Perry, who had been out with a right knee injury, is playing her first tournament since falling in the opening round of the U.S. Open.

Eighth-seeded Russian Olga Poutchkova defeated Canadian Valerie Tetreault 6-0, 6-2.

Also, American Laura Granville beat Croat Jelena Kostanic 6-4, 6-4; Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak beat Russian Alina Jidkova 6-4, 6-2; and Martina Sucha of Slovakia beat American Chanda Rubin, 6-4, 6-2.
