Cohiba Miss hoping for BC fillies spot

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Cohiba Miss spent Monday getting used to Churchill Downs' backside in hopes of making it into Saturday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in Louisville, Ky.

The Cat Thief filly was scratched from the Pocahantas Stakes to give her a chance to rest.

"Her owner (Mike Rutherford) and I talked and agreed that you can run in $100,000 races all over the country, but there is only one $2 million race for juvenile fillies," Trainer Bernie Flint said. "We're going to take our chances that we'll get in. This is the big dance and everyone wants to go in the big dance."

Spinaway winner Appealing Zophie worked four furlongs in 50 4/5 on Monday while Lilly Carson jogged a bit and was schooled in the paddock. California filly She's Included, whose best finish was third place in the Del Mar Debutante, took a 1 1/2-mile spin around the Churchill oval.
