Peyton Manning earns weekly AFC honor

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning was named the National Football League's AFC offensive player of the week Wednesday.

Manning completed 25 of 35 pass attempts against Washington and hit three third quarter touchdowns to help the Colts rally for a 36-22 win Sunday.

The other AFC honorees were Oakland end Derrick Burgess (defense) and running back/kick returner Laurence Maroney (special teams) of New England.

Burgess made five tackles and had a key pass deflection as Oakland beat Arizona, 22-9.

Maroney, a rookie, set up a touchdown with a 74-yard kickoff return as the Patriots beat Buffalo, 28-6.
