
LINCOLN, Neb., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Ryan Bailey, a walk-on, kicked a 22-yard field goal with :23 left to play Saturday afternoon as fourth-ranked Texas beat No. 16 Nebraska, 22-20.
Bailey was given a chance to make his game-winning boot after earlier woes in the Longhorns' kicking game. Greg Johnson missed two field goal attempts and had an extra point try blocked.
Colt McCoy threw for two touchdowns and 222 yards and Limas Sweed caught a scoring pass and had eight receptions for 120 yards. Quan Cosby caught a touchdown pass and returned the opening kickoff 78 yards to set up a field goal, and both Jamal Charles and Selmon Young rushed for 52 yards as Texas (7-1, 4-0 Big 12) won its 18th straight conference road game.
Zac Taylor passed for 274 yards and two touchdowns, Brandon Jackson and Maurice Purify both caught scoring passes and running back Marlon Lucky threw for a score for the Cornhuskers (6-2, 3-1 Big 12).
