
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- After spotting Indiana the game's first three points Saturday afternoon, top-ranked Ohio State blasted the Hoosiers, 44-3.
Quarterback Troy Smith, a definite Heisman Trophy contender, passed for a career-high four touchdowns and 217 yards; wide receiver/kick returner Ted Ginn, Jr. scored a touchdown on five receptions for 69 yards and also threw a touchdown pass; Antonio Pittman rushed for 107 yards on 16 carries; Anthony Gonzalez scored once on four catches for 69 yards; Chris Wells scored once; and Rory Nichol caught two touchdown passes for the Buckeyes (8-0, 4-0 Big Ten).
OSU has captured its last 14 games to build the nation's longest winning streak.
Austin Starr kicked a 34-yard field goal with 7:59 left in the first quarter; Kellen Lewis was 15-for-28 passing for 107 yards; while Jahkeen Gilmore and James Hardy combined to make 11 receptions for 160 yards for the Hoosiers (4-4, 2-2 Big Ten).
