
EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- West Virginia scored 27 points in the middle two quarters Friday night and won in a 37-11 romp against Connecticut to remain unbeaten.
Quarterback Pat White was 9-of-14 passing for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also scored a touchdown and gained 101 yards on 15 rushing attempts.
Budding Heisman Trophy candidate Steve Slaton ran for one score on 19 carries for 128 yards, Rayshawn Bolden caught a 52-yard scoring pass from White, Owen Schmitt ran for a score and Pat McAfee kicked three field goals for WVU (7-0, 2-0 Big East), which did not look past UConn in anticipation of its big battle at sixth-ranked Louisville Nov. 2.
UConn quarterback D.J. Hernandez was 7-of-14 passing for 57 yards and one interception. He also scored a touchdown and picked up 35 yards on seven rushes.
Terry Caulley had a combined 63 yards of total offense for the Huskies (3-4, 0-2 Big East).
