Several seeds lose in Madrid

MADRID, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- American James Blake was one of several marquee players beaten Wednesday in the second round of the ATP Masters Series tennis tournament in Madrid.

No. 2 seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain was a 6-4, 6-2, winner over American Mardy Fish. But third-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia fell to unseeded Andy Murray of Britain, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, and fifth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko fell to Joachim Johansson of Sweden, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3.

The eighth-seeded Blake, who Sunday won the title at the Stockholm Open in Sweden, lost Wednesday to Belgian Kristof Vliegen, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5). The loss ended Blake's 11-match winning streak.

American Robby Ginepri topped No. 12 Mario Ancic of Croatia, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5).
