Ljubicic titles in Vienna

VIENNA, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Defending champion Ivan Ljubicic Sunday won the BA-CA Tennis Trophy men's tennis tournament in Vienna, Austria.

In the final, the native of Croatia beat fifth-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile by scores of 6-3, 6-4, 7-5, to capture his third title of the year and sixth of his career.

The winner earned $135,875 for his efforts.

"I'm feeling really great on this court," Ljubicic said. "I knew that I would play well here, but to go all the way when I saw five top 10 players in the draw I knew it would be difficult."

Gonzalez was trying for his eighth career ATP title and first since last October.

"He served too good today," Gonzalez said. "He went for every shot and was just playing good. It was a really tough day."

Ljubicic, who beat Gonzalez in the Vienna quarterfinals last year, has won 14 of his last 18 matches.
