TORONTO, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Mats Sundin had a hat trick and an assist, and scored the game-winner Saturday as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Calgary Flames, 5-4 in overtime.
With Toronto down a man less than a minute into the extra frame, Sundin fought for possession along the boards in the neutral zone. He carried the puck down the left wing and sent a shot inside the blue line that sailed over Miikka Kiprusoff's glove.
Darcy Tucker scored his fifth goal of the year, and Alex Steen his first for the Maple Leafs. Andrew Raycroft stopped 26 shots.
Calgary defenseman and Toronto native Mark Giordano scored his first two NHL goals in a three-goal second period for the Flames. Matt Lombardi and Daymond Langkow both scored their first goals of the year.
Kiprusoff made 38 saves in the loss.
