"I'm very excited to be in my first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles final," King said. "The key today was again my serve, but also my consistency. She played up and down and I think was frustrated with not being consistent."

King's best previous finish was in the semifinals of the Bangalore Open in India in February.

In the Bangkok final, King will face crowd favorite Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.

Tanasugarn thrilled her home crowd with a 6-2, 6-3 win against ninth-seeded Severine Bremond of France.

Tanasugarn will be trying for her second career title. She has lost five other title matches.
