VIENNA, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Ivan Ljubicic and Andy Roddick Friday both won their quarterfinal matches at the BA-CA Tennis Trophy tennis tournament in Vienna, Austria.
Croatia's Ljubicic, the top seed and defending champion, easily beat unseeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, 6-3, 6-2, while American Roddick routed crowd favorite Jurgen Melzer, 6-4, 6-3.
In the other quarter final matches, fifth-seeded slugger Fernando Gonzalez of Chile ousted second-seeded David Nalbandian of Argentina, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, while Slovakia's Dominik Hrbaty beat Austrian native and crowd favorite, Stefan Koubek, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
In Saturday's semis, Ljubicic will meet Hrbaty and Roddick faces Gonzalez. The winner of the tournament on Sunday will receive a first prize check of $137,000.
