Nalbandian leads winners at Vienna

VIENNA, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Argentina's David Nalbandian Thursday advanced to the third round of the BA-CA Tennis Trophy tournament in Vienna, Austria.

Nalbandian, the tournament's second seed, was a 6-2, 6-3 winner against native Austrian Oliver Marach in a second-round match.

Andy Roddick of the United States also was a second-round winner as he came back to top Richard Gasquet of France, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3.

Elsewhere, Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka, who is not seeded, knocked off No. 8 Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 6-3, 6-3; wild card Stefan Koubek thrilled a home crowd by beating No. 4 Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2; and another native of Austria, Jurgen Melzer, beat qualifier Lukasz Kubot of Poland, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

Djokovic was riding a six-match winning streak, which included his title in Metz, France last week.
