Two Chiefs, one Charger take AFC honors

NEW YORK, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Kansas City's Damon Huard and Lawrence Tynes have been selected AFC offensive and special team players of the week.

The conference's defensive weekly honor went to San Diego defensive tackle Jamal Williams, who had six tackles and a sack in the Chargers' victory over Pittsburgh, the conference said in a release Wednesday.

But the other awards went to Kansas City Chiefs players. Huard completed 26-of-38 passes for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Kansas City's 23-20 win at Arizona. Huard is 2-0 since filling in for injured quarterback Trent Green.

Tynes converted two extra-point tries and three field-goal attempts, including a 19-yarder with 1:36 to play that provided the final margin of victory.

It was the first AFC player of the week honor for all three players.
